Matt Opatrny
Matt Opatrny brings a grounding focus on mindfulness, relational communication, parenting, and group facilitation to the work of Southport Relational.
Trained in mindfulness practice and Non-Violent Communication (NVC), Matt helps individuals, couples, and families slow down difficult interactions so that greater awareness, honesty, and understanding can emerge. His work focuses on helping people express their own truths clearly while remaining open to the experience of others.
Matt previously spent two decades as the co-founder and managing director of an award-winning New York theater ensemble, guiding creative teams through collaboration, conflict, and shared decision-making. His work as a writer, teacher, and performer has long centered on emotional literacy, kindness, and the human capacity for connection.
Matt is visually impaired, a perspective that deepens his attention to how people listen, communicate, and relate to one another.
At Southport Relational, Matt contributes to intensives, relational skills development, parenting work, and group programs.
